Infatuation

Doolie and Bella_edited

He is a black and white terrier mix, named Doolie, and she is a beagle, named Bella.

It was, seemingly, love at first sight for Bella.

Outside in the yard, she follows Doolie around, and he, not really wanting to have much to do with this love struck female, carries on with his business.

In the morning, she runs to meet him, tail wagging, but there is not really much of a response from him. However, I’m sure he must be a tiny bit flattered. They have their breakfast together, and then have some time on their own to immerse themselves in the smells of the yard.

She follows him around  and play bows, attempting to entice him into a game, but he is more interested in the chew bone in his den, than playing with a female.

She is totally devoted, but does not venture too close when the chew bone is present, as he speaks his mind, with enthusiasm.

He has demonstrated his prowess at catching biscuits when they are thrown to him. However, he is an untidy male, never makes his bed, and leaves it strewn over the floor, and some of it is in tiny pieces.

When I return, they are both standing together at the gate, tails wagging, having spent time together, doing nothing in particular.

Bella is returning home today, so Doolie will be left in peace, to search the yard, chew his bone, and generally waste his day doing whatever he pleases.

After the Rain

The third fine day in a row, and time to take the trio back to their favourite haunt, The Loop Track. With a high of 11 degrees celcius the scene is set for a comfortable meander.

The music pulsing through the earphones, was Simply Red, Live at the O2 Arena, London. April 3 2009

Due to the drop of 1080 poison, to kill opussoms, all three dogs are harnessed and leashed. No chance of eating anything that should not be , and dying as a result.

Binka was out in front, pulling Bryson behind him. He even thought the Fantails were fair game, although they were hovering at least six feet above him.  His true hunting traits coming to the fore. Bryson was finding it increasingly difficult to go to the toilet. The harness was pulling around his shoulders. Not the most comfortable of positions to be in.

Chelsea the Weimaraner should have been scenting the birds also,  however, her nose was planted firmly on the ground, not missing any new smell that had emerged since she was last on the track.

There was only one instance of near disaster, when a slip  in the mud, was looking as though it would be soggy trouers for me. However, this calamity was averted with many”wait” commands to the dogs.

Now it is time out on the office bed, until opening time, and another afternoon passes.

Inclement Weather

It has been a week since I last made a contribution to the blog.

During this time, the weather has been cold and wet, with the sun presenting itself, for approximately a half day, in the whole period.

This makes for very tiresome working conditions, and also very soggy doggies, who still want to run and play, but who have no sense to stay indoors to keep dry.

Pepe and Scooter are still enjoying each others company in the rain, who wants to stay cooped up all day, just to keep their coat dry? Certainly not those two.

Walking has also been put on hold. Perhaps there will be a miracle this week, and the ball of light and heat, will show its brilliant face in our back yard.

The cats are keeping close to their beds, only venturing out for something to eat, and a quick look outside, to confirm what they already knew, “wet”.

My pets are either on beds by the fire, or in my bed, trying to keep the cold at bay.

Bryson the cocker is playing a game of ball by himself, with a Planet Dog ball, supposedly indestructible.

However, I noitice on closer inspection, that he has managed to chew some pieces from the outside.  This is the only ball that will fit snugly in his mouth. The weimaraner of course, throws it from side to side like a sweet, being savoured for the flavour. No one has told her she is a big dog, and she continues with her own peculiar antics.

At least I have time to catch up with updating my ipod music list, while the rain, beats us in to, almost, submission.
